Children’s Ministry (Pre-k4 through 5th grade)

Purpose of Children’s Ministry

To partner with families to:

  • lead children to salvation and spiritual growth (by teaching God’s Word)
  • provide a sense of community to our children to which they know they belong and
  • provide opportunities for children and families to serve others.

Sunday Morning

On Sunday mornings, we offer Bible Study classes for children (pre-k4 through 5th grade) at 9:40 and Children’s Church for our pre-k through 2nd grade during the 11 o’clock worship service.  Our classes are taught by gifted adults and high school youth who have answered God’s call to teach and have committed to teaching our children for the next year. All adult teachers have current background checks on file and have been through our Child Protection Policy Training.

Sunday Bible Class Curriculum

First Look (Pre-k4/Kindergarten)
We want children to know:

  1. God made me
  2. God loves me
  3. Jesus wants to be my forever friend

252 Basics (1st - 5th grade)
We want children to know:

  1. I can trust God no matter what.
  2. I need to make the wise choice.
  3. I need to treat others the way I want to be treated.
*We also provide Family Virtue Packs for families to use during the week. These packs have great devotion and discussion ideas to reiterate what the kids are learning on Sunday morning.

Children’s Ministry Team

The Children’s Ministry Team is led by Jen Morlock and Melanie Jenkins, members of St. James.  Parents and others interested in our ministry to children compose the rest of the team.  The purpose of the Team is to support the Children’s Director by helping plan special events and providing input for our Sunday and Wednesday classes.  We welcome anyone interested in serving in this ministry to join us.
