Colossians 1 NIV
3. We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, 4. because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all the saints
Dear Friends,
Please accept my personal thanks for your support of the Mission Possible 5K as an expression of gratitude on behalf of the membership of St. James United Methodist Church.
Our third Missions Possible 5K was our most successful event to date. We want you to know that we could not have done this without your support and the work of the Spirit leading new and old friends to invest in advancing the Kingdom of Christ across the globe. At a time in history when some have held tight to resources out of a fear of what the future may hold, we had more overall sponsors to contribute more money and more gifts than in our previous two years. Likewise, our number of runners has increased each year.
Your gifts will enable a team of eight people from St. James to travel to Russia this year to work at Camp Elema, north of St. Petersburg Russia. Camp Elama provides free facilities to orphans and children at risk, as well as other Christian groups in Russia who would not otherwise be able to afford such an experience. The team will construct two pavilions at the camp. These pavilions will provide facilities for meetings, meal preparation and other recreational activities. Our prayer is that many will be blessed and come to know the love Jesus through their use of this camp and these facilities.
We will also travel to Montenegro to continue a youth ministry program in a country where few have heard of the message of Christ.
We continue planning for a return trip to Tanzania, East Africa in 2011. The team will travel to remote village regions where churches have been built in previous years. Further, the team will continue ministries at an orphanage, a deaf school and many other mission projects with men, women and youth.
Thanks for your help that made the event such a great success. We continue to run with perseverance the race that Christ has marked out for us. Thank you for making the journey with us.
Blessings,
Johnny Prescott
