Music Ministry

Music is an important part of St. James life. Weekly Worship, Times of Healing Prayer, St. James Choir, Wednesday Music with Kids, Praise Team, Men's Ensemble, and Christmas and Easter presentations— these opportunities and more allow the St. James family to musically express their love for Jesus Christ and to worship Him.

St. James Choir

I will sing of your love and justice; to you, Lord, I will sing praise (Psalm 101:1).

Our Choir sings a variety of music for worship and presents special musical offerings at Christmas and Easter. We rehearse at 7:30 pm on 3rd and 4th Wednesdays in Room 213. Contact Bill Emerson (bemerson@sjumc.org) for information.

Praise Team

Praise the Lord. Praise God in his Sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens (Psalm 150:1-2).

Praise Team offers contemporary music for 11:00 worship and other events around Athens. The ensemble includes Vocals, Guitar, keyboard, and Percussion. Rehearsals are each Monday at 6:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Contact Bryan Shaw (bshaw@sjumc.org) for more information.

Men's Ensemble

Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant (Psalm 135:3).

The Men's Ensemble gives men the unique opportunity to sing in an all-male group. Rehearsals are on 1st and 2nd Wednesdays in Room 214, and we usually sing twice in the Fall and twice in the Spring. Bill Emerson will be happy to answer your questions.

Wednesday Praise Kids

Let the little children come unto me, and do not hinder them … (Luke 18:17).

Praise Kids meet during our children's activities, between 6:15 and 7:30 p.m. These children occasionally sing in 11:00 worship. Adults aren't the only ones who can help lead us to worship. Contact Bill Emerson for information about Praise Kids.
